Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine (such as Merlot)
  • 2 Tbsp. canola oil
  • 1 lb. fresh shiitake mushrooms, stems removed, chopped (may substitute button mushrooms)

Instructions

In small bowl combine oyster sauce, soy sauce and red wine; set aside.

In medium saucepan heat canola oil until hot using medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, saute until tender, approximately 5 minutes.

Add soy sauce mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer until mushrooms are brown and tender, approximately 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Want guests to think you're a fancy chef? Try this next time. I used regular button mushrooms (because of price). Everyone raved and I wanted to say it was a secret recipe I'd created...but since my conscience wouldn't let me do that, I told them about Umami Mushrooms on this site. If you love mushrooms, try it. You won't be sorry!
