Mushroom Sauce Sauces, Gravies, Glazes & Salsas
Ingredients
- Vegetable cooking spray
- 2 cups fresh mushrooms, coarsely chopped (a variety of mushrooms can be used)
- 3 shallots, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1 1/2 cup ready-to-serve beef broth (from a 14 oz. can)
- 1 tsp. dried thyme leaves, crushed
- 1/4 cup red wine
- 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
Heat a non-stick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Add mushrooms, shallots and garlic and saute for 3 minutes, or until mushrooms have softened. Remove mixture and hold aside in a small bowl.
In empty skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and whisk in flour until combined. Cook over low heat while stirring constantly, about 5 minutes, or until golden brown in color. Do not burn.
Add beef broth and mushroom mixture, stirring until thickened, about 3 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients and stir until heated through.
